Rob Friberg - External Consultant, Forest Projects

Rob brings 25 years of proven success supporting sustainable forest management, carbon offset funded forest conservation initiatives and multi-stakeholder planning in Canada and internationally. His project experience includes technical, advisory, leadership and research oriented roles for the private sector, government agencies at the provincial and national level, and community-based organizations. Rob has been instrumental to the successful validation & verification of REDD+ projects to the Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Standard in Latin America and central Africa, and the design of innovative forest carbon projects in western Canada.

Rob has a bachelor’s degree in Forest Resources Management from the University of British Columbia, amaster’s degree in Environment and Management from Royal Roads University, and is currently undertaking a PhD at UBC Okanagan with a focus on climate change policy and cumulative environmental effects. Rob is a B.C. Registered Professional Forester and an accredited verifier - US Forest Projects (California ARB). He has certificates in Tropical Forest Management (CATIE, Costa Rica), Advanced Facilitation and Consultation (Justice Institute of BC), and diverse training in program management & evaluation.
