Angel Armas - REDD Technical Lead

Angel is a REDD+ expert with over 10 years of direct experience working on the design, and implementation of REDD+ strategies and approaches under the UNFCCC system. He has worked as a technical expert on UN-REDD initiatives both as a consultant for non-profit or development agencies, and from within national public agencies. In 2015, Angel was a member of the National Technical Team responsible for the design of Peru’s FREL/FRL, including the calculation of carbon emission factors from remotely sensed and field data, and GHG emission modeling. Angel has worked with organizations such as International Center for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF), the Center for International Research in Forestry (CIFOR), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and he has contributed as a consultant for IADB, World Bank on UN-REDD programmes in Ecuador and Brazil. Beyond UN-REDD, Angel has played key roles in other national-level low carbon land use initiatives, including Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). He is fluent in five languages.
